Anxiety

Anxiety is taking its toll on you. It wreaks havoc on your sleep, your appetite, and your mood. It plays tricks on your mind, convincing you that the worst-case scenarios are inevitable, or that everyone is mad at you. You’re overthinking so you can feel prepared for any situation. You feel restless and have difficulty relaxing, which makes it hard to enjoy yourself or spend quality time with others.

If this is you, you’re not alone! This is the experience of so many clients I’ve worked with over the years.

I can help you learn how to manage your anxiety. We’ll practice several approaches to see which ones fit best for you. Some of these approaches include breath work and muscle relaxation techniques, mindfulness, strategies to challenge anxious thoughts, and self-compassion practice. We’ll explore dynamics in your relationships and family to learn more about your anxiety happening today. We’ll also brainstorm ways to build community in the face of oppression, identifying what is within and outside of our control.

Anxiety tries to tell us that we have to be perfect to avoid failure. But when we believe that we are resilient and that we can cope with challenges, anxiety loosens its grip. When we have self-compassion, we understand that everyone struggles at times. We are more steady in the face of rejection or uncertainty. We rely less heavily on validation from others when we truly believe that we are worthy and valuable.
